The basic back story of Ping Pong

Hello my name is Max Gallagher and I am going to tell you everything you need to know about the beautiful game of ping pong. Ping pong was first invented in the early 1800's. Most people believe ping pong was first played in England by the British army while they were stationed in South Africa. Others believe it was an man called John Jacques who was the founder  of England sports manufacturer ltd who commercialised ping pong in 1901. He is the man who made all the rules of ping pong that we all know today. It was first called table tennis but it was soon changed to ping pong because the name wasn't popular at first.

Table tennis was banned in the soviet union from 1930 to 1950 because people thought it was harmful to the eyes which is crazy. This was due to the first world table tennis championship being held three years before hand where a Russian competitor was said to of lost his eye sight for playing to long. The 1950's was a stuff time for the sport because of the invention of the sandwich rubber which was a new material being used for the table tennis bats which until then the bats were made of just simple rubber.
